1 Kings 11 in the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible tells the story of Solomon's downfall due to his many foreign wives and idolatry. In this chapter, we learn that Solomon, despite his wisdom and wealth, allowed his heart to be turned away from God.
The chapter begins by describing how Solomon loved many foreign women, including the daughters of Pharaoh and other nations, contrary to God's commandment. These women led Solomon to worship their gods and build high places for idol worship.
As a result, God became angry with Solomon and warned him of the consequences of his actions. God declared that the kingdom would be torn away from Solomon's son and that only a small portion of the kingdom would remain under his descendants.
Additionally, God raised up adversaries against Solomon, including Hadad the Edomite, Rezon the son of Eliadah, and Jeroboam, a mighty man of valor. They all sought to challenge Solomon's reign.
Solomon's reign ended after a rule of forty years, and he died and was buried in Jerusalem. His son Rehoboam succeeded him as king.
