2 Chronicles Chapter 23

**Summary of 2 Chronicles 23 (KJV):**

In 2 Chronicles 23, we witness the coronation of Joash as the rightful king of Judah. The chapter begins with the High Priest Jehoiada forming a plan to overthrow Queen Athaliah, who had seized power and executed all of the royal family. Jehoiada gathers the commanders of the army, the Levites, and the heads of the households, and reveals Joash, the only surviving son of King Ahaziah, who was hidden and protected in the temple.

Jehoiada instructs the military commanders to guard the young king and leads the people in making a covenant to be the Lord's people. They all go to the temple, where the High Priest shows Joash to the people and anoints him as king. The people rejoice and Athaliah cries out in protest, but she is quickly seized and executed.

Under Joash's reign, idolatry is abolished, the temple of the Lord is restored, and the priests and Levites are organized to carry out their duties faithfully. The people respond positively to Joash's leadership, and he reigns over Judah for forty years.
