2 Chronicles Chapter 32

Summery

2 Chronicles 32 tells the story of King Hezekiah of Judah and his defense against the Assyrian king Sennacherib. Hezekiah, a righteous king, began to repair and fortify the walls of Jerusalem in preparation for the imminent attack from Sennacherib. He gathered his officials and military leaders, encouraging them to be strong and not be afraid or discouraged.

Sennacherib sent his army to conquer Judah and taunted the people, claiming that their God could not save them. Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah prayed to God for deliverance and received a message of assurance. That night, the angel of the Lord struck down 185,000 Assyrian soldiers, forcing Sennacherib to retreat in shame.

After this victory, Hezekiah became very wealthy and influential. However, he became proud and did not acknowledge God's role in his success. As a result, God allowed him to fall ill. Hezekiah humbled himself and prayed for healing, and God granted him 15 more years of life.

Despite his pride, Hezekiah's reign was prosperous and he implemented many reforms. However, his story serves as a warning about the dangers of pride and forgetting God's blessings.
