Daniel Chapter 6

Summery

In Daniel 6, we find Daniel, a man of great wisdom and integrity, serving as a trusted official in the kingdom of Darius. Due to his exceptional qualities, the king plans to appoint Daniel as one of three administrators over the kingdom. Jealous of Daniel’s position, the other officials conspire against him, searching for a way to bring him down.

Recognizing Daniel’s unwavering faith in God, the officials devise a plan centered around Daniel’s commitment to prayer. They convince the king to issue a decree forbidding anyone from petitioning any god or man, except for the king, for a period of thirty days. Knowing that Daniel prays to his God regularly, they hope to trap him with this decree.

Despite the new law, Daniel remains steadfast in his devotion to God and continues to pray openly. When the officials catch him in the act, they inform the king, who realizes he has been tricked. Although Darius values Daniel and desires to save him, the king is bound by the law and reluctantly orders him to be thrown into a den of lions.

Throughout the night, the king anxiously awaits news of Daniel’s fate. Miraculously, God sends an angel to protect Daniel, preventing the lions from harming him. In the morning, the king rushes to the den and finds Daniel unharmed. Overwhelmed by this undeniable display of divine intervention, Darius issues a decree proclaiming the power and greatness of Daniel’s God.
