2 Chronicles Chapter 20

Summery

In 2 Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, faced a great threat as a coalition of enemy nations prepared to attack his kingdom. Filled with fear, Jehoshaphat turned to God for help and gathered the people to seek His guidance. The king led a solemn assembly, where he prayed and reminded God of His promises to protect His people.

In response, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel, a Levite, who spoke words of encouragement and assurance to Jehoshaphat and the assembly. The message declared that they need not be afraid, for the battle was not theirs but God's. They were instructed to stand firm and witness the Lord's deliverance.

Encouraged by this divine word, Jehoshaphat appointed singers to go before the army, praising God for His holiness. As they began to sing, confusion and discord fell upon the enemy camp, causing them to turn against each other. Judah's enemies were defeated without the king's army having to engage in battle.

After their victory, the people of Judah gathered the spoils of war, which included vast riches and precious items. They returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and Jehoshaphat's reign continued in peace and prosperity.
