In this chapter, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, where He is transfigured before them. His clothes become dazzling white, and Elijah and Moses appear, conversing with Him. Overwhelmed, Peter suggests building three tabernacles. Then a voice from a cloud declares, “This is my beloved Son; hear Him.” As they descend, Jesus instructs His disciples not to reveal what they witnessed until after His resurrection.
Back with the other disciples, they encounter a crowd, and a man approaches Jesus, seeking help for his demon-possessed son. The disciples’ attempts to cast out the demon had failed. Jesus expresses disappointment at their lack of faith and proceeds to deliver the boy from the evil spirit. Later, the disciples inquire about their failure privately, and Jesus emphasizes the power of faith.
Continuing their journey, Jesus predicts His impending betrayal, death, and resurrection. The disciples, however, fail to comprehend His words. As they reach Capernaum, Jesus teaches them about humility and the importance of serving others. He emphasizes that even the smallest acts of kindness have value in the Kingdom of God.
