In Daniel 2, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had a disturbing dream that troubled him greatly. Desperate for interpretation, he demanded his wise men, magicians, and astrologers to reveal the dream’s meaning, with the condition that they should first tell him the dream itself. When they failed, the king ordered the execution of all wise men, including Daniel and his friends.
Upon hearing the decree, Daniel sought God’s mercy, and through divine revelation, the dream and its interpretation were made known to him. Daniel approached the king and declared that there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets and made known Nebuchadnezzar’s dream.
The dream consisted of a colossal statue made of different materials—gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay. Daniel interpreted the dream, revealing that the statue represented a succession of empires, starting with Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylon, followed by inferior kingdoms. The final kingdom, represented by the stone cut without hands, would ultimately destroy all other kingdoms and establish an everlasting dominion.
Impressed by Daniel’s wisdom and the accurate interpretation, the king acknowledged the God of Daniel and promoted him to a high position. Daniel and his friends were also rewarded, and Daniel offered praise and gratitude to God for His wisdom and guidance.
