In John 6, Jesus performs the miracle of feeding the multitude with only five barley loaves and two fishes. Recognizing their intentions to make Him their earthly king, Jesus withdraws to a mountain alone. Later, Jesus walks on water towards His disciples' boat during a storm, and they are amazed. The following day, the multitude seeks Jesus again and questions Him about how He crossed the sea. Jesus redirects their focus from temporary physical needs to eternal spiritual sustenance, proclaiming Himself as the "bread of life" that came down from heaven. He declares that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.
Jesus emphasizes the importance of faith and spiritual nourishment, stating that those who partake of His flesh and blood will have everlasting life. This statement confuses many, and some disciples find it difficult to accept. Jesus explains that His words are spiritual and not literal, and it is the Spirit who gives life.
